REVIEW: All Seasons E-compact 2016

So you can obviously work out the merits of a folding bike.  They save space, they can be carried around easier.  They’re a great commuter bike.  Where they fall short is the small wheels and heavier frame which means they are harder to ride than a standard bike.  That’s why an electric folding bike makes so much sense.  It takes the cons of the standard folding bike and turns them into pros!

So how does the All Seasons E-compact folding electric bike stand up to the competition?  Well actually it’s probably one of the best in class in terms of value for money.  At £695 you don’t get many electric bike choices to be frank.  At this low price range you usually get low spec, cheap and cheerful.  But in fact All Seasons, as they have done with their E-xplorer, have crammed as much hi-quality specification components onto their bikes as possible to create a great entry point folding ebike.

36V 10AH motors are now standard fare on full size electric bikes but many of the folding bikes have less powerful motors and battery systems.  So the E-compact has a definite advantage here.  If you’re looking to spend as little as possible on an electric bike but still want something well-built then you probably can’t go far wrong with this.  It’s available in all black and all white models.

All Seasons quote upto 40 miles from each battery recharge which should be achievable, and is high compared to standard mileage of around 30miles in the folding back class.  The weight as well at 21kg is lighter than most, with 23-25kg being the standard in the folding bike category.  A couple of things the bike is missing are gears and a multi-setting PAS control, but to be honest you really shouldn’t expect these on a small folding bike, and certainly not one at this price.  If you want these extras then you probably should be looking at paying £1000+.
